Resident Evil 4, Shadow of Mordor and other AAA games leaving Xbox Game Pass

Xbox Game Pass

Xbox Game Pass will be removing a handful of games from it’s service in January, with some AAA titles leaving. This is a very common occurrence for these on-demand services, as the licensing agreements and other underlying contracts that keep games on the service will always run out at some point. So what games will be leaving Xbox Game Pass in January 2020? Let’s find out.

So there are five games overall dropping from Xbox Game Pass this month. And it might seem like bad news to some, as I’m willing to bet that many gamers enjoyed these AAA releases. These games may not be the hottest and newest titles, but it’s still sad to see them go. The games leaving in the next two weeks are:

  • The Division
  • Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor – Game of the Year Edition
  • Resident Evil 4
  • Saints Row: The Third
  • Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition

There is some underlying good news though, Microsoft will be continually adding new games to the service for one thing. The company has already said that they plan to expand offerings for Game Pass, on both PC and Xbox, throughout 2020. All told, Microsoft could add “dozens” of games to Xbox Game Pass this year. This includes the most recent additions to the gaming service, with the three games coming this month coming in being Tekken 7, Frostpunk and Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet.

Secondly, Microsoft has said that the company also will not raise subscription prices anytime soon. This good news was revealed by the Executive Vice President at Gaming Phil Spencer in a recent interview.
