Three more games joining Xbox Game Pass in January

Xbox Game Pass

Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb announced some good news for Xbox fans this week. January might be a slow month for many companies, but not gaming and tech giant Microsoft. The gaming side of the company has revealed that they’re amping up Xbox Game Pass with a dose of new titles this month. There’s three titles coming to the service throughout the month, each one having it’s own variety of fun. These new additions join the likes of Grand Theft Auto 5, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and more than 100 more AAA and indie titles on the fairly cheap on-demand gaming service. And according to recent reveals, Microsoft is planning to keep Xbox Game Pass affordable.

First up this month, on January 9th, is Frostpunk. Frostpunk is a game all about survival, in the worst way. Players are sacked with the role of managing a freezing and degrading settlement in the frozen wastes of a strange world. In this alternate history, the Victorian era of classic Steampunk has been thrown into a chaotic future where some apocalyptic disaster has frozen the world. Huddled together around the last bastion of civilization, you must guide humanity forward.

Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet also drops onto Xbox Game Pass on January 9th. This game follows the Gun Gale Online arc from the anime, bringing Kirito and friends into a new world to goof around in. The RPG blends melee and gunplay combat into a stylized retelling of the Sword Art Online anime.

Tekken 7 rounds out the offerings this month, joining the service on January 16th. The latest sequel in the legendary fighting game franchise brings back all of the iconic characters from over the years, and mashes them together in an orgy of violence and nonsense. The convoluted story is as weird as ever, and the characters are just as over-the-top, but that’s a unique selling point for fans of the games.
