How to hang items from the ceiling in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Animal Crossing: New Horizons‘ 2.0 update has dropped a full 2 days early, as Nintendo let Christmas come early. There are a ton of new features being added in this update. There’s the new resort island content, where you can bring new visitors to a special vacation spot.  There’s also a bird-brained new pal in Brewster, who can be invited to your island. There’s so much more to discuss, too much for this guide. For simplicity, let’s talk about one of the core new features. You can now hang items from the ceiling in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Now, you can even change the ceiling layouts and looks. This is huge, and has great potential to mess with the perspective of the camera to achieve more in-depth home decorations. So, this might be something hard to get used to, but it’s a pretty neat trick.

Just like with the Accent Walls, you need to unlock the Pro Decoration License for 2,500 Nook Miles. Head to the Nook Stop in Resident Services to grab it. You can now alter a lot more than just the basic wall looks.

Head inside your house after the purchase and get started. Just open up the Room Editor by pressing down on the D-pad to begin. Press the + button twice. This will take you to the ceiling, instead of stopping on the walls like the pre-2.0 version. You will be looking down at the floor when you do this.

Like the walls, you can only hang items from the ceiling in Animal Crossing if they are compatible. Things like lights, ornaments and wall hangers should work. You might find some new DIY recipes you can mess with as well. Feel free to experiment.
