V Rising puts far more emphasis on survival than a more action-oriented vamp game. Surviving against the many enemies is going to be tough. Blood is the core of your survival. You will need blood to continue fighting and growing your power. The journey from newly emergent undead, to lord of all that’s shrouded in darkness, is a long one. The ability to make new armor and weapons is just the beginning. You also need to gather resources to build your base of operations. One of the resources that you will use excessively in the game is Quartz, and here is how to farm it.
Be sure to check out our other guides on scrolls, and other materials like fish oil. Other upgrades like Whetstones are pretty useful as well. Other aspects of the game can help with your journey, like farming in V Rising and growing stuff from seeds. Seeds harvested from bosses can be used to grow unique items for crating intriguing new armor. Some of the best armor in the game is the Dark Silver gear, which is super powerful. And since you’re trying to get more powerful gear, leather can be helpful as well. Other items like Wool Thread and Clay are useful for early game crafting. There’s just so much to do in this game.
Where to find Quartz in V Rising
When you open the map, each area you’ve been to before has a white highlight around it. Hovering over these with the mouse will give you a general overview of the zone.
The Dunley Farmland is the second major zone of the game, and has plenty of Quartz to hand over. You can hit up Dawnbreak Village, Dunley Monastery, and Mosswick Village to farm it manually. Each highlighted area, when discovered, will give you a preview of the potential resource drops that can be found there. The best way to get more Quartz is to use the Servant missions in the areas that have Quartz listed. This is where those Servant missions come in.
Sit on your vampiric Throne to command your followers. By selecting a node on the map that’s highlighted white, you can send followers on a hunt to gather items from that particular zone. Select the followers that fit the parameters of the mission. That means you must send a follower that matches the nodes you’re farming, so pay attention to the markers at the top of each mission window, and then choose a follower with sufficient Power and the correct traits. As long as you follow this set, you should have a 100% success rate on hunts, provided you send a strong enough follower.
These missions run in real-time, so they can take a while, perhaps way too long on solo servers. It’s worth noting, that the timer apparently doesn’t countdown if you aren’t running a server, as it’s based on game uptime, and not real-time. Servant training times are also affected by this. While you can’t adjust Servant rise timers when you put them into their coffins, you can adjust the time they spend on missions. There’s really no point to sending them out for more than 2 hours at a time on solo servers.
What do you use Quartz for?
Quartz in V Rising only has one use currently. For every 20 Quartz you place into a Furnace, you get one unit of glass out of it. You need Glass to upgrade your Castle Heart on one of the tiers. It’s also useful for making windows to give your castle a more fittingly gothic vibe.
Like many crafts in V Rising, Glass has a recipe that needs to be unlocked before you can start using it. To unlock the recipe, you must siphon the V blood of the level 44 boss, Christina, the Sun Priestess. She can be found on the northwest side of Dawnbreak Village.
As the developers update the game, it’s sure to get more crafting items. Be sure to come back here and check out after any updates, as we’ll update the guide with new details.
