How to get fish oil in V Rising

V Rising Guides

Being a vampire is a hugely cool thing, popular fiction has had a really big impact here. V Rising is a crafting-focused game, of course, there’s farming too. You may be a powerful vampire trying to expand their territory, but you can’t do everything on your own. You need to recruit Servants to take care of missions for you. Players also need to hunt down rare and common resources for crafting, such as Gem stones and dust, or maybe Sulfur. That all is just the early game though, there’s so much more.

V Rising puts far more emphasis on survival than a more action-oriented vamp game. Surviving against the many enemies is going to be tough. Blood is the core of your survival. You will need blood to continue fighting and growing your power.

With all of the crafting recipes in the game, there are a lot of materials you need to find. This game has so many crafting options that it’s impossible to fit them all into one guide. That’s why this guide will focus on fish oil, a surprisingly useful item. Like many other materials in V Rising, there are a couple of options for getting fish oil.

Where to find fish oil

The easiest way to get fish oil is straight away; looting it from villagers and the chests they store it in. Killing tons of humans will only yield a few of these, so fishing for it is much better.

You will want to be in the mid-40’s in terms of gear score to take the farming approach, but keep reading if you satisfy that requirement. In the Dunley Farmlands, find the Mosswick Village. This is one of the best farming spots for these items in the game. There’s a ton of fish in barrels around the place, grabbing them can yield plenty of fish oil in V Rising.  There is a convenient waygate right nearby if you’ve unlocked fast travel.

Instead of fighting though, you should try fishing then processing it. You need to build a fishing pole first. You will have to use Copper Ingots and Planks to make a basic fishing pole first.  You need to defeat Rufus, the Foreman at level 20 to get its crafting recipe. To cast out for a fish, bring along that new fishing pole to a body of water. Equip the pole in your main hand, then click the highlighted areas of the water. When the area splashes, click the left mouse button again.

Once you have your fish caught, take them back to a Devourer in your keep to get the items from them. After a short delay, fish parts and oil should be given out. The type of fish determines the number of items given. Common fish like Fat Gobies and Fierce Stingers will give a few, while Twilight Snappers and Golden River Bass will give out big piles of 10 fish oil and other parts.

What can fish oil be used for

Dawnthorn Armor and Sanguine weapons, both powerful end-game options, need fish oil to be crafted. Fire resistance brew and other potions also use this item. Another set of armor is the rather useful Pristine Leather.

That’s what you need to know about fish oil in V Rising.

Other aspects of the game can help with your journey, like farming in V Rising and growing stuff from seeds. Seeds harvested from bosses can be used to grow unique items for crating intriguing new armor. Some of the best armor in the game is the Dark Silver gear, which is super powerful.
