How to Get Leather in V Rising

V Rising

V Rising puts far more emphasis on survival than a more action-oriented vamp game. Surviving against the many enemies is going to be tough. Blood is the core of your survival. You will need blood to continue fighting and growing your power. As you grow that shiny new castle, there are a lot of things you need to build. Being a vampire is a hugely cool thing, popular fiction has had a really big impact here. V Rising is a crafting-focused game, of course, there’s farming too. And when night falls, you have a free hand to hunt.

You’ll need Leather for a whole bunch of recipes in V Rising. The more advanced armor is one of the first things you need to do to get stronger. Leather is required from the outset of the game, and you will need to farm it and craft it to get enough for your crafting. You can get small amounts as loot early in the game, mostly from small bandit camps, but you’ll need a lot more than that.

How to Get Leather in V Rising

The Tannery is required to craft Leather. To gain access to the Tannery workstation, kill a V Blood carrier named Keely the Frost Archer. Build the Blood Altar and track them. They’re a level 20 enemy so you need to have a gear score at least of that level. This boss can be found at a large Bandit Trapper Camp in East Farbane Woods. There’s a waygate nearby, so use that to get around if you have to return. And since the base respawns regularly, you can farm the loot pretty easily.

Once you’ve slain the boss, the recipe you need will be unlocked via the Build menu. Press B to bring that up once back at base. You’ll need eight Planks and 160 Animal Hide to build the Tannery. You then need to bring Animal Hides back to the Tannery to have it automatically create Leather. Animal Hide drops from wolves, bears and other mobs of the animal type. You can get hundreds pretty easily by farming wolves in the southern part of the Farbane Woods.

Be sure to check out our other guides on scrolls, and other materials like fish oil. Other upgrades like Whetstones are pretty useful as well. Other aspects of the game can help with your journey, like farming in V Rising and growing stuff from seeds. Seeds harvested from bosses can be used to grow unique items for crating intriguing new armor. Some of the best armor in the game is the Dark Silver gear, which is super powerful.
