Bungie’s 30th Anniversary event is live in Destiny 2. Players have a huge batch of new quests to complete to earn unique rewards. Prepare to feel nostalgic as the game brings back iconic weapons and gear. Strange Coins and Strange Favor Ranks are the two core elements of this new reward structure. Since it’s a Bungie-themed event, of course, Halo is in the mix. The new weapons added in the event all tie into Halo, either visually or through some reference.
New cosmetics include the Myth Claymore sword, Legendary Destiny 1 weapons, Exotic Gjallarswift Sparrow, Marathon-themed armor, and the Gjallarhorn rocket launcher. The event will revolve around giving players a few activities to try and claim these new items. One of the harder ones to get is the Forerunner Exotic Sidearm in Destiny 2.
How to get the Forerunner Exotic Sidearm in Destiny 2
The core of the flow of acquiring the Forerunner Exotic Sidearm in Destiny 2 is based on the Magnum Opus quest. This multi-stage quest involves heading over to Xur and finish off tasks to get Keys. You need to wrap up the activities in a certain order. Here are the steps you need to do to get the Forerunner.
Step 1 – Collect Strange Coins
You need to first get seven of the new Strange Coins. Get them from the activities listed below, and bring them back to Xur. The best thing if you want to rush it is to farm the Dares of Eternity as many times as you can, then rush the easiest modes you can handle. Many players will prefer to farm certain Bounties to get this done, as those can be repeated fairly quickly.
- Bounties
- Completing the Dares of Eternity activity
- Crucible matches through the playlists
- Gambit matches through the playlists
- Heroic Public Events
- Playlist Strikes
Step 2 – Complete Starhorse Bouties
Now, you need to head over the Starhorse, who is found nearby to Xur in the Hoard. What you need to do is visit the Eternity and trade 3 Strange Coins for the basic bounties. You need to finish three of them to get the final stage of the quest. It’s a bit of risk though, as failing a bounty means you lose the Coins. If you run out of coins, more must be gained before continuing.
Step 3 – Obtain the Strange Key
To get the Forerunner Exotic Sidearm, you need to finish enough bounties and Dares of Eternity to get your Strange Favor to rank 4. This will reward you with one Strange Key, which can then be used to open the loot chest. This is why farming Dares of Eternity is important early on, as it can really speed the grind up.
