What are Strange Coins and Favor Ranks in Destiny 2
Strange Coins in Destiny 2 are a special currency within the 30th-anniversary event. They tie directly into the new reward system. As you trade in Strange Coins to Starhorse, you earn rewards and Ranks. The general idea is that you do Dares of Eternity to get Favor Ranks in Destiny 2, and then do other things to get Strange Coins. Yes, these similar names can be confusing.
Now it’s important to note that Strange Coins and Strange Favor are two different things. The only way to earn Strange Favor is by completing runs through the Dares of Eternity offensive activity. Each time you complete higher difficulties, you get more ranks.
Ranking up your Strange Favor confers many rewards. You can use it to get a Strange Engram, which is one of the ways you can get items unique to the 30th Anniversary loot pool. Also, the rank allows you to open the loot chests in Xur’s Treasure horde. These can contain powerful items and special bonuses. A lot of this is how you get things like the Marathon Armor and Thorn Armor sets.
Once you’ve unlocked the rewards for the track you filled up, you can also reset your Strange Favor Ranks to get more rewards from Xur.
