Piranha Plant is a New Fighter in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Reveals Piranha Plant

Nintendo isn’t done revealing new fighters for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. This time we’re getting a surprisingly refreshing bit of Mario in the roster. And it’s not a major character, at least not in the tradition sense.

Nintendo announced that the iconic Piranha Plant enemy from Mario games will be coming to the upcoming fighting game as part of the roster. The character is one of many planned DLC additions to the game.

The Piranha Plant is a large and powerful enemy with some interesting moves. It’s up special is blowing an enemy into air and headbutting them, sending them flying. There’s a couple versions of this move and it can also be used as an effective counter. It also has a powerful rush attack to knock opponents back. There’s even a ranged attack that spits poison across the arena.

Check out the gameplay segment featuring the Piranha Plant from the latest Nintendo Direct down below. Piranha Plant will be released a few months after Super Smash Bros. Ultimate launches on December 7, 2018, exclusively on the Switch.
