During a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate related Nintendo Direct today, Nintendo just went nuts with new character and mode reveals for the upcoming fighting game.
The newest announcement is that Street Fighter‘s getting even more representation with the addition of Ken. And while he’s not a full-fledged addition to the roster, Ken will come to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as an Echo Fighter for Ryu. Ken, a staple character of the Street Fighter franchise is an easy pick for the Smash roster, although it’s kind of disappointing that it’s not a full standalone character.
For those that don’t know, Echo Fighters are essentially reskins of their mirrored character. Echo Fighters share the same base moveset as their shared character, but will have their own unique taunts, idle animations and Final Smash moves.
The Echo Fighters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate consist of Dark Samus, Dark Pit, Lucina, Daisy, Chrom, Richter Belmont, and now Ken.
In other Smash Bros. news, Nintendo also revealed that Incineroar is a new addition to the roster. The recent Nintendo Direct also announced a new Spirit Battles singleplayer mode. Nintendo also plans to release new batches of Amiibos inspired by Smash characters.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate launches on December 7, 2018, exclusively on the Switch. Check out the gameplay segment featuring Ken from the latest Nintendo Direct down below.
