How to Highlight Objects in Baldur’s Gate 3

Baldur’s Gate 3

Baldur’s Gate 3 has a ton of really cool features. There’s accessibility aids, there are tons of storylines and quests, and so much more. Sure, the game can weigh things in your favor with mechanics like Karmic Dice, but there’s things you’re supposed to be doing to buff your team. Items like Soul Coins can be used to add a buff to your party members as well. And all that comes on top of classic CRPG flair. Like many CRPGs, hunting for loot is a core mechanic of the game. And even though the game looks incredible, it can sometimes be a bit visually cluttered. There’s a setting that’s very easy to use to handle this problem, keep reading to learn how to highlight objects in Baldur’s Gate 3.

How to Highlight Objects in Baldur’s Gate 3

The default key-bind to highlight objects in Baldur’s Gate 3 is Left-Alt. Hold that key down, and any items in the view of the camera will gain a glowing border. This makes spotting stuff so much simpler if you’re having trouble. Some items you might find are contained within corpses, chests or other containers, but some may be sitting out in the open. This makes the process of finding that stuff so much easier.

You will see the glowing border, as well as the name of the object or item will be underneath it. You may want to do this when investigating a new area after you’ve looted everything else in sight. Be sure to check anything that you think might contain juicy loot. Be careful of traps though, this is D&D after all.

You can easily adjust the keybinds for anything in BG3, if you so wish. This feature is called Item Labels by the game, and it’s fairly simple to change the key you would press. To change the key for BG3 Item Labels, go to the Keybinds tab in your options. Scroll down until you find Item Labels and click the box with the key assignment in it. Simply tap the new key you wish to assign and the game will automatically link that key wit that action. You may want to take the time to make all your controls comfortable while you’re in this menu.
