Spyro Reignited Trilogy might be hitting Switch this summer

Spyro Reignited Trilogy Gameplay

Rumors are now swirling across the internet that the Nintendo Switch is getting its own version of the Spyro Reignited Trilogy this year. Gamers are hopeful for a Summer release, according to the current wave of buzz. The wave of hype started after some folks spotted a listing for the port on GameStop Germany (via Gematsu).

The listing pegs the game for an August release. It’s very important to note that this has not been confirmed officially. So until Activision and/or Nintendo put out an official announcement, take all of this with a grain of salt. It’s possible that this is another case of a retailer pulling the trigger on preemptively adding SKUs for products in bulk without having them being confirmed to be part of inventory. Anyone who has worked retail has seen things like this happen, so it could just be an error.

The Spyro Reignited Trilogy was released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One last November as a full remaster of the original classic Playstation platformer series. The full collection includes Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage, and Spyro: Year of the Dragon. This group of amazing games got fully redone graphics, updated controls and a ton of other minor tweaks. If you’re looking for that hit of nostalgia, or looking to get into a great game franchise, this is the best chance to do just that. And if the Switch release does come to pass, then you’ll be able to take these games on the go.
