Digimon Survive delayed into 2021

Digimon Survive

Earlier today it was announced that Digimon Survive is getting delayed. The reports broke earlier today, as reported by Gematsu, and revealed that the team won’t be able to hit that original release date. The game was originally due to release in 2019 after being announced the year prior. It was later delayed the first time to 2020. And now, with a new delay to next year, it looks less and less like we will ever see this new game. Which is pretty saddening for fans who were hopeful.

Here’s the update from the team:

The Digimon Survive team would like to extend our thanks to fans from around the world for their support during development, especially in these difficult times. We had originally planned to launch Digimon Survive in 2020, but current world events have shifted our development timing and we have made the difficult decision to push Digimon Survive‘s launch to 2021.

We thank you all for your continued patience as we work to create a fun and engaging tactical RPG game along with a memorable story for Digimon fans! We will share some exciting updates for Digimon Survive in spring 2021, so please stay tuned for more information.

The original concept for Digimon Survive was a tactical RPG styled after the original anime. The player would take on the role of a Digidestined and control their own Digimon. And through the process of battles and other adventures, grow their power. The game also throws some curveballs though, like making it possible for your character to be killed off, ending the game. The immersion into this world would be helped along with character designs by Uichi Ukumo and music by Tomoki Miyoshi.

The game will come out for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. The actual new release date has not been confirmed yet.
