Detroit: Become Human gets PC release Date

Net-Ease Purchases Stake in Quantic Dream

It’s here, the announcement of the release date for the PC port of Detroit: Become Human has finally been confirmed. Quantic Dream announced the ports of several of their most recent console titles to the PC, bringing their story-driven adventures to a new platform. These ports mark the first time in many years that Quantic Dream games have appeared on the PC.

The story of Detroit: Become Human follows a handful of different Androids in a not-so-distant future. Each member of the cast has their own core themes too, each built around the idea of what it means to be human. The narrative is wholly submerged in civil rights and racism commentary, so be forewarned if you’re sensitive to that. There’s questions about the usefulness of revolutionary struggle, as well as motherhood and friendship, buried into the narrative as well. Although given the structure of the narrative, long-time Cage fans will find plenty of weird Cage-isms to laugh at. The striking visuals and decent pacing make for a fun experience, even if the gameplay is really just QTEs (Quick-Time Events). The gameplay frames the whole thing in an effort to protect the three characters, although conflicts and other tension will make that challenging.

The developer also put out a short trailer to announce the date, check that out below. Detroit: Become Human will release exclusively on the Epic Games Store on December 12th, for $40. A demo of the game will be available on that same day, and there will be a demo available too. If you want to try it out before you buy it, be sure to download that.

Quantic Dream has also released PC ports of some of their other games, with demos too, like for PC versions of Beyond Two Souls.

Porting the game to PC has been a tremendous challenge, as we wanted players to get the original experience without any compromise. So we entirely redesigned the interface and developed a new engine to offer 4k resolution and high quality rendering on a wide range of PCs.” says Writer and Director, David Cage.

Those challenges are something that Cage and Quantic Dream seem to be full capable of meeting though, judging from the quality of the trailer above. the console version of Detroit: Become Human was already pretty solid in terms of performance and graphical fidelity, and this version looks even better.

Quantic Dream also published a collection of some of their recent output, including Detroit: Become Human, Beyond: Two Souls, and Heavy Rain all in one bundle. Said bundle was the same price as this new PC port. The collection is out now for the PS4. And yes, these games will also be out on the PC.
