How to find the Warden in Minecraft

Sculk Sensor in Minecraft

Minecraft’s 1.19 Wild update just landed, and it’s a big new shift for the game. The Warden has officially launched alongside the Minecraft 1.19 Wild update, here’s all you need to know about finding it. This new creature is pretty dangerous to unwary adventurers. It may be blind, but that doesn’t mean it’s any less of a threat. This massive hulk of a blind foe needs to be approached in the right way so that you can survive an encounter with it. Here’s a guide on how to handle spawning the thing for starters.

How to find the Warden in Minecraft

The Warden in Minecraft, like all mobs, has a set of specific spawn conditions to follow. It’s restricted to a new biome, the Deep Dark. The deep dark biome is suspected to spawn somewhere near deepslate blocks, between Y=-1 and Y=-64. You need to find this location to find the Warden. You will find them spawning in areas surrounded by sculk catalyst, a dark-colored blue block that’s new in this update.

You then need to find a unique item that’s new to the game, called a Sculk Shrieker. Outside of summoning the Warden to that location, the Sculk Shrieker has no other use. But it’s going to be tough to actually find one. Before you go hunting for one, try making a Sculk Sensor, this can trigger the unique sound you use to find them. Sculk sensors generate within the deep dark biome and ancient cities. You will want to go find one if you can, as it will make this all easier.

This blue and white object emits both strange noises and sights, and that’s how you’re going to find it. When you find one, the item will release a ringing sound when you activate it. There’s a repetitive echoing sound that emits from the Shrieker at regular intervals. If you trigger the sound in three quick bursts, that means a Warden is about to spawn. That’s your cue to get ready.

So once you’ve spawned it, how do you not get taken out? The trick to fighting it is to sneak around. A Warden cannot detect you when you’re sneaking. The mob itself is blind, so being in its sight shouldn’t matter as long as you’re quiet. Along with the new mob comes some new tools to navigate the Deep Dark safely. The trick is to use vibrations against the new mob. Because it’s blind, you can lure it away by tossing items away from you and having the Warden follow them.
