Where to get nitro in Gran Turismo 7

Gran Turismo 7

As Gran Turismo 7 debuts and gearheads go nuts for it, there’s a lot to learn about this new iteration. Players are digging deep under the hood to find out just how this new sequel ticks. THere’s a huge amount of different parts you can bolt onto your rides. And as you expand your garage, those options only get more varied. And as you creep up in the rankings, the competition gets more fierce. You need to have the best possible combination of cars and parts to compete and win. As time goes on, campaign missions and online races will get harder, so you need to take every advantage where you can get it. That’s where nitro in Gran Turismo 7 comes in.

This particular engine upgrade was made famous in the street racing scene of the later 90’s and early 00’s, thanks in large part to the success of car-focused action films like The Fast and The Furious. ‘NOS’ as it’s known within that film is pretty ubiquitous. And it’s pretty handy to have for a solid speed boost. Here’s what you need to know about nitro in Gran Turismo 7.

How to get nitro in Gran Turismo 7

Once you’ve reached Collector Level 7, the Extreme category in the World Map’s Tuning Shop will be unlocked. Getting there won’t be easy though, as you need to pour time into the game to unlock various features and new items. Collector level maxes out at level 23 for unlocks, with several thousand points needed to hit that level. The more cars you collect and the more races you win, the higher your Collector Points total goes.

Whenever you buy or acquire a new car, you will gain Collector Points based on how much your new vehicle is worth. For every 1,000 credits that a car costs, you will get 1 Collector Point. A 50,000 Cr car will give you 50 Points. It’s going to take a while to unlock everything, but it’s worth it.

One of the best ways to progress in the game is to do the Book challenges, as well as the License Tests. Completing these tests will earn you both Credits and new parts. It’s also a good way to earn some extra Credits by doing very well on these tests. Buying Legend Cars and winning World Events are also great options here.

How to use nitro in Gran Turismo 7

But anyway, back to the nitro. Once you have NOS unlocked, it’s easy to use during a race. Assuming you’re using the default button assignments, pressing down on the right analog stick will trigger nitro. You can change this keymap in the options menu if you wish.

You have a limited amount of nitro for each race. Look in the bottom right of your HUD for a small red gauge. The position of that needle dictates how much of the precious gas is left in the tank. Using it all up will mean you won’t be able to use it again for that race. Keep an eye on it and try to conserve it. The best times to use it are when you want to gain some distance on other racers, or pass a difficult opponent.
