FIFA 20 is making football more dynamic with VOLTA

FIFA 20

So the headlines for this EA Play event ahead of E3 2019 are all the expected big names. FIFA and other sports titles are some of EA’s biggest money-makers so of course they get a pretty high spot on the billing. And with the announcement of FIFA 20, gamers and sports fans can look forward to a whole new playing field when it comes to this new version.

The big focus on this new version is a massive expansion to the in-game mechanics. This takes the form of a system “Football Intelligence”. Electronic Arts is completely overhauling both the way the ball physics behaves and how the players behave when their on the ball. The AI-controlled flow of the dribbler and those around them are going to be completely different this year. Spacing, one-on-ones, tackles and so much more are all getting some work this year.

Electronic Arts hopes that by designing these changes around player feedback, they can create the game the players truly want. There are still plenty of player concerns, like exploits being used online to mess with the ball physics, that remain to be dealt with, but only time will tell if these issues and other player complaints can be resolved.

Watching that, you’re probably wondering what VOLTA is. It’s basically FIFA Street reincarnated in FIFA 20. This mixed-gender mode takes the revamped ball control and movement mechanics to a new level. By using the complex systems and tools at your disposal, ball tricks become an integral part of the game in this new mode. The rules are a little looser to allow for more stylish play. So showboating is encouraged.
