Lost Ark is a fantasy MMO, and it has it’s own unique quirks. Being a major timesink similar to other Korean MMOs, there are a ton of interwoven systems to deal with. And being a PC MMO, there’s usually some expectation of keyboard-and-mouse being the default way to control the game. The game does offer some level of customization, and that applies to the use of controller support as well. So here’s what we can tell you about
There are plenty of other things to learn about Lost Ark beyond this simple stuff. Strongholds that act as bases for crafting, seem to have some folks confused. There’s also that premium sub that some players are curious about. Doing things like dismantling gear is pretty important too. Learning how to do that can help your crafting efforts a bit. Get out there and start exploring, adventurer. Handling gear upgrades is another important aspect, mostly via Engravings and other upgrades.
Does Lost Ark Have Controller Support?
The short answer is yes, Lost Ark controller support is a thing. The entire process of displaying button prompts and processing inputs is handled by Steam. You can alter these in Steam’s own settings, you could also check Lost Ark’s menu if it’s not working . Just navigate to Settings and select the Controller option. This menu will allow you to alter what button prompts relate to, as well as what button configuration to use in-game for the UI. If the controller plugged in isn’t detected Open Lost Ark’s Settings, open the Gamepad button, and check the Use Gamepad box.
The game will even auto-display the correct button prompts on the UI, as one would expect from a console game. Most players will be able to use an Xbox controller by simply plugging it in. And since there are many options of controllers out there, you may need to alter the default settings. The only disadvantage of not using an Xbox controller is that the key assignments use Xbox’s layout, which can be confusing. So if you’re using a PS4 controller, you may have to just deal with it.
So even though Lost Ark controller support is there, it’s not perfect. These MMOs are meant to use a keyboard for some abilities. There are just too many buttons to map to controller inputs. You will likely find that some abilities either have very weird inputs on controller, or just flat out aren’t supported. You will likely need a keyboard plugged in to use certain UI shortcuts, for example.
