How to dismantle gear in Lost Ark

Lost Ark Guides

Lost Ark is the hit new MMO from Smilegate and published by Amazon Games is releasing soon to Western markets. Their port of the popular Korean MMO might just take the world by storm. By bundling a focus on co-op play with the intricate builds and crafting system, we might have a hint. Players seem to have plenty of questions though, and that’s where this guide comes in. This guide will run through some of the basics in crafting and gear management.

Players will routinely get drops from bosses and encounters they can’t directly use. Luckily, there’s a way to put them to use. You can actually fully break down items you get as drops into their base components. Items you dismantle will give you equipment pieces and powders. These can either be sold to vendors or other players, as well as used for certain crafting recipes. You can either sell or dismantle gear in Lost Ark. The reasons for which one you choose kind of depend on your own playstyle. If you plan to get deeper into crafting, you might want to save the high-end drops for dismantling. But since you need currency in abundance, it’s probably a good idea to just sell the new stuff you get that isn’t rare or useful for crafting.

Make sure to also put time into the Lab and Workshop back at your stronghold if that’s your plan. Knowing what kind of gear you plan to make can help you plan out what items you need to break down when it’s time to dismantle gear in Lost Ark.

How to dismantle gear in Lost Ark

To dismantle gear and items in Lost Ark, you will need to open up your inventory in the game (I key by default). Look at the bottom of this menu to see three small blue buttons. The middle of the three is the one you need to click to open the dismantling menu. Drag-and-drop the items from your inventory you wish to break down into this menu to do so.

Only certain items can be dismantled, and this usually applies to items that aren’t special or exceedingly rare. The game doesn’t want you to be able to make mountains of cash selling rare ingredients or crafting powerful items right off the bat.

One of the cool things you can do is set certain items to be auto-dismantled. You will see a button that says “Auto/Dism Stg” on the Dismantling window. Click that to bring up the settings window. The options here can have you automatically break down items by type or rarity. So if you want to break down all of the trash weapons you get, that’s an option with this filter. This is a very useful way to cut down on inventory clutter if you’re an MMO packrat like me.

There are plenty of other things to learn about Lost Ark beyond this simple stuff. Strongholds that act as bases for crafting, seem to have some folks confused. THere’s also that weird premium sub that some players are curious about.
