Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice update 1.03 adds HDR support, VR incoming

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice update 1.03

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is an incredible game. It takes players on a deeply illuminating and depressing journey into the depths of trauma and loss, and you’ll have to claw and scratch your way out. Ninja Theory really hit it out of the park with the game’s unique mix of pacing and tone. And even though the game is very short, I enjoyed every bit of it.

Despite this praise, there were still some issues with the title. One such problem was an infamous bug that would prevent players from progressing. The NY Gate bug, as it came to be known, would cause players to become stuck after one of the games progression systems would break without opening the next section. A workaround was discovered, but now Ninja Theory has patched out the problem entirely with the new 1.03 update to Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice.

And if you thought the game wasn’t already moody and visually impressive enough, the recent patch also added in support for HDR (High-Dynamic-Range imaging) on systems that support the feature. Never have the blood-soaked and ashen wastes of this game looked grittier or more hauntingly inviting.

In other news, the team is adding VR support for PC players soon, July 31st specifically. The VR edition will be compatible with both Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, and it won’t be just a separate mode or an addition. It’ll be the whole game playable in virtual reality. You can check out a dev diary showcasing the new mode down below.

And good news, the update is completely free to PC gamers. PSVR owners will not be getting this though.

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice was released on Sony’s current-generation box and PC in 2017, and recently made the jump to Xbox One.
