There are so many enchantments in Minecraft. There are a lot of different enchants in the game, and some of them are more useful than others. Maybe you want Bane of Anthropods to get that nice damage boost against certain enemy types. Maybe you want some looting enchantments to increase rare drops. Although for exploration, ostensibly the core of the gameplay, there’s a bunch too. Respiration is one of those, and it’s very cool.
What is Respiration in Minecraft?
This particular helmet enchant allows for a very nifty effect. It’s basically a potion of water breathing, but applied to your gear, with a lot less duration. For every level of the enchant, you get a 15-second bonus to your breathing meter underwater. There are three levels to Respiration in Minecraft, each one offering a more intense bonus. The bonus can be further augmented with a turtle shell equipped, which adds another 10 seconds. With these four upgrades in hand, you can breathe for up to 60 seconds underwater.
How do you get Respiration in Minecraft?
You can get it any number of ways, just like any other enchantment book. Loot from chests is very common. Players will likely hunt them down with regularity if you’re exploring a lot. Trading with Librarian villagers is an option as well. The chances are kind of low, but not impossible. There are plenty of other options you can use too.
Using the Enchantment Table to get it works just fine. There’s no set way to get the enchantment, as it’s all luck-based. Keep hitting the Enchantment Table until you get the right enchant and you’re good to go. Also, make sure you have the full 15 Bookcases surrounding the table, as that unlocks the full range of enchants. Make sure to have a steady source of both XP and Lapus Lazuli for the table path. That probably means you need some kind of mob grinder or another setup already built before farming enchants.
Fishing is another option as well for finding it. Get a Fishing Rod with Mending and a few other enchants on it, and you will be golden. Get both the Lure and Luck of the Sea enchantments on the fishing pole to make fishing for rare drops much faster. If you’re after something like the Aqua Affinity book, this is the way to go. This will mean that you get tons of enchant books, alongside the higher likelihood of getting this particular option.
