Cyberpunk 2077 is making it much easier to handle having multiple save files. The developer has revealed that the new RPG will distinguish between saves in unique ways. Every save is marked with the Life Path you take on that playthrough, making it a simple prospect to remember where you are and what you’ve done.
What is a Life Path, I hear you ask. Well, Life Paths are the critical choices you make at the beginning of the game which determines what led to this moment. How did you find yourself with the soul of a rebellious rocker uploaded to your brain, this is how. The game offers a multitude of these choices when you make a character, and they have a variety of impacts on your
When you make a Life Path choice, you’re largely locked, as it represents a major turning point in the story. These pivotal moments will define your path through the game world, and you can’t take them back. You have to live with the impact of the choices you make. And so there will be some incentive for players to run multiple save files to try and keep tabs on everything that’s happening.
There are some potential issues with this approach though. If a player makes the same choice in two saves, how will the game distinguish between them? How will a player know which one is which, other than remembering them? Some fans got around these issues using the command console on PC, which worked for other games; although it may not be an option for this one.
With the number of SKUs coming out for Cyberpunk 2077, there’s going to be some incentive to have folks that want to play the game on multiple platforms, and that means cross-saves will be very important.
There’s also a photo mode in the game if you want to capture more of the finer details and make some funny memes.
