What Do Vitamins Do in Project Zomboid?

Project Zomboid

In Project Zomboid, you’re going to come across a wide array of different items. And it’s not all going to be guns and ammo. There are books and items to teach you skills, there may even be a bunch of random junk like wood and nails. But don’t be fooled, everything in Knox County has a use. Everything has a purpose, and since there’s a lot of items, so new folks get confused. One of the items that players find but may not understand how to use is covered here: vitamins. Keep reading to learn more.

Vitamins in Project Zomboid Explained

Vitamins in Project Zomboid are one of a few support and healing items you can find throughout the game. This one can be very useful for getting you out of a tough spot, and it may save your life. In Project Zomboid, you can use vitamins to get rid of tiredness or fatigue, regardless of which stage you’re in. Each vitamin reduces tiredness by 2 levels. There is a peak of 10 levels of tirednes in the game, so you would need five units of Vitamins in Project Zomboid to deal with a full stack of fatigue. Each vitamin item contains 10 units, meaning you can use it 10 times.

Be careful, tiredness is not to be confused with exhaustion/endurance. However, fatigue does have a direct correlation with endurance as the more tired the character is, the harder it is for them to regain their stamina. That means your attacks will be slower, you won’t be able to run as far, and your effectiveness in combat is greatly reduced. You really don’t want to be caught in the middle of a horde with a bunch of fatigue on your character.

Another of these items is Antibiotics, a great item that can reduce your rate of an infection other than a zombie wound by 50%. It’s great for treating fevers and other illnesses in PZ.

Both can reliably be found in a few places in the game world. Residential home bathrooms and medicine cabinets are the most reliable source. The lower chance of finding zombies in homes makes them a pretty good way to scavenge for healing items. Police stations and hospitals can sometimes have them, as can prison infirmaries, but these are exceptionally dangerous places. The amount of undead in these areas makes them best avoided unless you wish to die a painful death.

There are plenty of other things to learn about the game as well. Before you go out on that supply run, make sure you’re well prepared for what’s to come. Basic tasks like boiling water are key to survival. You must know how to build defenses too. Cleaning up after yourself after all the zombie slaying is a good idea. You don’t want a bunch of blood hanging around. Burning corpses is also a great thing to do. It’s a good idea to learn how to deal with cuts and burns as well, which can keep you alive.
