Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning expansion launches this month

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning Remaster

Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning, the remaster of the ambitious RPG, is finally getting new content. Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning gives players a chance to dive into the world that has been revived by THQ Nordic. THQ Nordic picked up the game in the bankruptcy liquidation of its original developer in 2018.

Some of you may remember the story of Kingdoms of Amalur, what was supposed to be a new MMO titan that led a franchise of fantasy properties. The effort was led by 38 Studios on the development side, a team put together by former US Baseball player Curt Schilling. The effort flamed out rather infamously when 38 Studios failed to deliver on promises and had allegedly bilked the state of Rhode Island out of millions in taxpayer-funded loans. The entire studio went under after those millions in loans couldn’t be paid back. The sales for Kingdoms of Amalur fell way below expectations, and the studio collapsed. Schilling now spends his days outrage farming on social media, and acting as a mouthpiece for far-right propaganda.

With a new studio at the helm, things are looking better. And it’s not just a remastered version of the ambitious RPG that’s coming. Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning Fatesworn is the new expansion for the game that is due pretty soon as well. The new Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning expansion launches December 14 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

As for what to expect, it seems pretty standard for new RPG content releases. There’s an increase in the level cap, up to 50. Along with that comes new areas to explore and enemies to fight. Players will also get new weapons, armor, and accessories to fool around with. The expansion is said to be about six hours in length.
