Pokémon Unite Guides

Pokémon Unite is officially out now on Nintendo Switch. Trainers can get in on the battle-packed Pokémon MOBA game today. This 5v5 action can be pretty intense, so it’s best to stick your toe in at first. Maybe play some games with friends first to get used to the maps. But once you’re ready to truly get into the game, it’s time to get into Ranked Matches in Pokémon Unite.

These ranked matches, as is tradition with MOBAs, can be very competitive. Players tend to get pretty heated, but with the casual and kid-friendly nature of the game, there’s not too much pressure. But once you feel you’re ready, it’s time to get going, Trainers. Here’s how to unlock Ranked Matches in Pokémon Unite.

How to unlock Ranked Matches in Pokémon Unite

Ranked Matches in Pokemon Unite unlock at Trainer Level 6, so you will need to put some time into pickups before you get there. That usually means queueing with randoms for your first few matches. It will take a bit of work, but level 6 isn’t that high of a bar to reach. Along the way, you will learn the game and unlock Held Items, which can be very useful for keeping your team in the fight. After about five games, you should reach Trainer Level 6 and be ready to progress.

You will need to have also got some Unite Licenses to progress into ranked matches. You will need 5 Unite Licenses to be accepted into ranked mode. You can check on your unlocks with the Pokémon menu in-game. As you play through matches, you accrue Aeos gems and Aeos coins that you can spend to unlock new members of your roster. Once again, you need at least five of the 20 that are currently in the game unlocked.

That’s not the only thing you can do in the game though. When you do game with your pals, you’re thrown into a very intense 5v5 competition. You can certainly drop out if things are feeling too overwhelming. You can drop out of a match at any time. If you find yourself getting overwhelmed by the incessant voice chat, consider turning off voice chat in Pokémon Unite. Also, make sure to grab that free Zeroara while you still can.
