Deltarune Chapters 3-5 will launch at the same time

Deltarune Chapter 2

Toby Fox released the highly anticipated Deltarune Chapter 2 this week, giving fans the sequel years in the making. The new game will continue the story within the beloved world of Undertale, including many fan-favorite characters. Players will finally get to see what happens tomorrow. And if you know what that means, you know.

Anyway, in a message to fans this week, Toby Fox thanked fans for waiting. In a post on the game’s blog, Fox revealed plans for the future.

As a treat to help cope with the last 18 months of chaos and pain, Fox even released Deltrarune Chapter 2 for free. He made the call as “the world has been really tough for everybody recently”. However, Chapters 3-5 will be charged at a set price “for the first five chapters” as a bundle.  This means anyone who wants to wait a few years will be able to grab all five games as one bundle. This will mean that the wait will be pretty long, as all three games have to complete development.

The message also took the time to thank the team Fox has hired to finish Chapter 2. “Although it’s no longer a solo project, I tried very hard to communicate my vision. I designed and wrote everything. I gave feedback on literally every single part of the game. Thanks to everyone, we were able to complete the chapter a lot faster than I could ever do it by myself.”

To include a nice nod to an industry that needs it, Fox encouraged fans to spend the money from Chapter 2 on something else. “If you can afford it, spend the money you saved from getting this game for free by supporting other indie devs,” he said.

That same team will now work on the next few chapters. The next chapters will be released when they’re finished. That wait doesn’t have a release date attached, obviously, so now the waiting game begins.
