Pokémon GO has got some new Special Research for you to learn. You get tasked with taking on Shadow Pokémon and Team GO Rocket in A Professor’s Work is Never Done. Although you will have to complete the Troubling Situation Special Research to be able to do it, as it will not unlock until this has been finished. Once you get through all these tasks, you will be rewarded with a Shadow Raikou.
Every month, Special Research Goals will be returning with different steps and that is the only way to take on Giovanni. Also, completing each of the Research Goals in Pokémon GO will earn different rewards that will make catching Pokémon a lot easier. Free balls and berries are very common. Players will also find bundles of XP that make bringing their Pokémon up to battle-ready in terms of power and level much easier. You even get special encounters with rare Pokémon in some cases.
STEP 1:
- Spin 10 PokéStops (encounter with Sudowoodo)
- Defeat 3 Team GO Rocket Grunts (500 XP)
- Catch 1 Shadow Pokémon (500 XP)
Rewards – 500 Stardust, 10x Poké Balls, 10x Razz Berries
STEP 2:
- Spin a PokéStop 3 days in a row (750 XP)
- Purify 5 Shadow Pokémon (750 XP)
- Win 5 raids (750 XP)
Rewards – 1000 Stardust, 3x Hyper Potions, 3x Revives
STEP 3:
- Use 6 super effective Charged Attacks in gym battles (1000 XP)
- Win 3 Great League Trainer Battles against another trainer (1000 XP)
- Defeat 6 Team GO Rocket grunts (1000 XP)
Rewards – 1500 Stardust, 15x Great Balls, 5x Pinap Berries
STEP 4:
- Defeat Team GO Rocket Leader Arlo (1250 XP)
- Defeat Team GO Rocket Leader Cliff (1250 XP)
- Defeat Team GO Rocket Leader Sierra (1250 XP)
Rewards – 2000 Stardust, 1x Super Rocket Radar, 3x Golden Razz Berries
STEP 5:
- Find the Team GO Rocket Boss (2500 Stardust)
- Battle the Team GO Rocket Boss (1500 XP)
- Defeat the Team GO Rocket Boss (3x Silver Pinap Berries)
Rewards – 3000 Stardust, 1x Fast TM, 1x Charged TM

- Complete (2000 XP)
