Being able to massive tune cars in Gran Turismo 7 is a big part of the experience. Ever since the first PlayStation release all those years ago, supping up your cars has been a big part of succeeding in races. And now that the franchise has come to the PS5, things are heating up. Not only can you change and alter the look and cosmetic parts of your car with thousands of paint colors and more, but there’s so much under the hood to be done.

At the start of the game, while you have a Garage, but there’s not an easy way to buy new parts for your rides. To be able to get your hands on new parts, you need to do a few things. You need to get through the game and unlock the various Menu Books until you get access to the GT Auto menu. From there, you can buy parts. You can also stop buy the GT Auto menu and perform some basic optimizations like an engine tuning to bring your care into tip-top shape.

How to get tuning parts in Gran Turismo 7

This is because to get tuning parts in Gran Turismo 7, you either have to win them at random from a Roulette Ticket or, more reliably, you have to unlock the Tuning Shop Pavilion and buy them from there. There are hundreds of colors and options for both cosmetics and performance upgrades contained within that menu. It’s a dizzying array of options and many players will feel a bit overwhelmed by it.

To use a ticket, open the Garage menu from the World Map and click on the Gifts tab. That will give you new cars and parts, depending on the rarity of the tickets.

Then there’s buying parts from the Tuning Shop. But how do you actually unlock it?

Once again, we’re heading back into the GT Auto menu. Completing the same Menu Book tasks that unlocks that set of options, also unlocks the Tuning Shop. You need to complete Menu Book 8 to do this. You need to get through the game until you are given access to the quest, “European Classic Compacts Menu 3 in the GT Café“. This is how you unlock the right car to actually get into the new mode. Completing this Menu Book will unlock a certain car you need. Once you unlock the Mini-Cooper S ’65, you will be asked to complete a race with it. Simply finish in a podium spot while driving this vehicle to unlock the necessary options. From there, you can choose Tuning Shop from the World Map and get going, buying parts for Credits.

The first set of options you have is kind of limited. In order to unlock more advanced car parts, you need to test into more advanced licenses, so be sure to keep on top of that as well.

There are many other things you can customize as well. Your livery on your cars can obviously be tuned to your liking. There are just a lot of cars that you can tune and upgrade. Being able to customize the look of your driver is a new option this year as well. It’s even so detailed that you have to wash your cars.
