Ark: Survival Evolved is a survival game about dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures, which seems like a really simple concept. Thing is, there’s so much depth hidden within that core concept that it’s hard to list them all. But players can expect to see all manner of prehistoric beasts plopping their way across the expansive open map, but there’s so many hidden dangers that players might not be aware of. From managing hunger to dealing with disease, things can get deadly quite fast.
And with the launch of the newest expansion, which is actually due in two parts, the developers are planning to make things even more “fun”. The first part of the new content, The Ark: Survival Evolved Genesis, will introduce all manner of new elements like enemies, map locations, weapons and more.
For one thing, there’s a new Tek Claw weapon which allows players to increase the speed and ferocity of the double-fisted melee attacks, making them more dangerous in combat. You’ll need all the help you can get too, because the new beasties prowling around are as dangerous as ever.
Another new addition is the Lava Lizard; a strange new inhabitant of the new lava and ice biomes being added to the game world, and yes, things are about to get much stranger than that. A strange new fox-like creature hunts across the frozen wastes, looking for players to devour. And all of these new additions can be tamed and used as combat mounts, in case you wanted to ride towering monstrosities across the land. And just because they could, the developer is even putting in a giant turtle; a turtle so massive that players will be able to build their base on it.
The Ark: Survival Evolved Genesis expansion is due to launch in December for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. You can see the trailer for the new expansion down below, it looks pretty cool. The Genesis content will mark the fourth and fifth content updates for the survival title, and are bundled together as part of the second season pass.
