How to collect Dragon’s Breath in Minecraft

How to collect Dragon’s Breath in Minecraft

Potions in Minecraft are a great way to get buffed for combat, exploration and more. The game puts a ton of focus on surviving the various dangers of a digital world, and sometimes you need help. Having enchanted gear is great, but sometimes you need something a little extra. Sometimes you want to hit mobs harder. Other times, you might want to get a bit of resistance to incoming damage.

There are also many modifiers that you can apply to potions, giving them a longer duration or different effects. The one issue with making stronger potions is getting the ingredients. Dragon’s breath can be a difficult resource to get your hands on. You need to head into the End, which takes a lot of work just to get there. From there, you then need to be ready to grab the breath that’s left on the ground. You first need to find an ender dragon, and that’s not going to be easy, keep reading to figure out everything else you need to do.

How to collect Dragon’s Breath in Minecraft

There are two methods you can use to get more Dragon’s Breath. Once you get to Ender Dragon’s location, there are two ways to acquire the Dragon’s Breath, and they’re both kind of dangerous.

First thing though, you need glass bottles. You will also need at least one glass bottle to collect a unit of the breath. Glass Bottles are used to contain the final potion, so you need one for each potion you’re going to make. So make more than just one set.

Dragon’s Breath in Minecraft is pretty easy to get once you know what to look for. Ender Dragons will sometimes fire off fireballs around the arena when you’re fighting them. Approach the gaseous purple cloud left on the ground after the fireball hits. With the glass bottle in hand, right-click on the cloud. You should be able to get multiple units of the bottled breath per fireball. Just be careful to not take too much damage when doing this and lose your haul.

The other method to get some of this stuff is to listen for the big roar that the dragon bellows out. When you hear the roar, it’s about to unleash a firebreath attack. This also leaves behind the gooey purple cloud you can collect from.

What does the dragon breath do in Minecraft

Dragon’s Breath is solely used in brewing potions. More specifically, it is used to make lingering potions. A lingering potion is a variant of a splash potion that can be thrown to leave clouds that apply the effect you’re after. So you could make an area of ground a bit dangerous or apply debuffs to enemies in an area. You can make the following potions have a lingering effect:

  • Fire Resistance
  • Invisibility
  • Leaping
  • Night Vision
  • Regeneration
  • Slow Falling
  • Strength
  • Swiftness
  • Water Breathing
