The difficulty of Ghost of Tsushima and its unforgiving combat makes the game a ton of fun. But for players that might be struggling with reaching the peaks of Jin’s power, there are some ways to do better. Aside from getting into the deeper levels of the combat though, there are other things to explore. When you’re hunting for hidden artifacts, it’s nice to have a helping hand. That’s where the Traveler’s Attire in Ghost of Tsushima comes in. The gear has a few useful perks for exploration as well, here’s what to do to get it, and how to use it.
Where to find the Traveler’s Attire
The Traveler’s Attire is not bought from a shop or unlocked via a quest. Here’s what you need to do to unlock it. You will need to head out after the tutorial and seek out one of the Dye merchants in the game. You will get it from the first one you talk to, so it’s very easy to get right from the beginning of the game. The Survivor Camp in Hiyoshi prefecture is the easiest place to hit after the opening parts of Ghost of Tsushima.
Hit up the Dye Merchant located at Hiyoshi Springs within the Hidden Springs Forest. The merchant will give you the Traveler’s Attire at no cost. This means that it’s impossible to miss the item, but it’s very limited in its use. You can make it a bit more powerful though through upgrades. You can upgrade the Attire at any armorer, here are the five levels of upgrade and their cost:
Level | Supplies | Linen | Leather | Silk |
---|---|---|---|---|
2 | 250 | 10 | ||
3 | 500 | 20 | 10 | |
4 | 750 | 30 | 20 | 6 |
5 | 800 | 40 | 30 | 8 |
Why wear the Traveler’s Attire
Like many other armor sets in the game, there’s a good reason to have this set on. The best way to use it is to set Guiding Wind and have it help guide you around the map. This ability will let you find hidden secrets. The best reason to have the Traveler’s Attire in Ghost of Tsushima is that it will help you gather the artifacts scattered around the game map. The item will trigger a controller vibration if you’re nearby to an artifact while you have the Traveler’s Attire on your character. A small firefly will also appear in patched versions of the game to guide you.
One of the other reasons to have this item is that it helps clear Fog of War. Traveling clears 10% more fog of war on the map (20% more at level II, 30% more at level III, 60% more at Level V).
The one downside to this attire is that it offers very little combat protection and no direct combat bonuses.
