Being online is always a bit risky. There are a lot of people out there who just look to be mean, and in a kid-focused game like Roblox, there’s a fair bit of concern over privacy.
Roblox is on PC and mobile devices, meaning a ton of people play this game. By default, most profiles have some elements visible to the public, such as allowing incoming messages, or allowing players to join you in games. And for those that are concerned by the privacy implications, there are ways to block incoming spam and other annoyances.
Users have been asking for the ability to maintain their privacy and appear offline on Roblox for some time, but we can’t just yet. There are currently no ways in the games to appear totally offline. The developers are working on it, and have been for some time. The developers haven’t given a date for when that’s coming. There’s a bit of a workaround in the meantime. The games do allow some control for what features users can see. Since your profiles and inventory are publically visible, there are ways to insulate yourself a bit.
How to Appear Offline on Roblox on PC
To adjust your privacy settings in Roblox on PC, here’s what to do. The process is simple, but you won’t be able to appear completely offline, but you can lock a few things down. The ability to block incoming party invites and messages can be done. You can also lock your profile to only allow friends to contact you. For other options, you’ll have to check the various in-game settings. Here’s what to do.
- Open the Roblox app on your machine
- Click the gear icon in the top-right of the main menu to bring up Settings.
- Switch to the Privacy tab in your settings
- Switch all of the drop-down menus to “no one“
How to Appear Offline on Roblox on Mobile
The mobile version is a bit more complicated when it comes to doing this. Like the PC version of Roblox, the mobile version of Roblox doesn’t have the feature to appear totally offline. You still have many of the similar privacy features on the mobile version though, so that’s something. Here’s what you need to do to get your profile a bit more locked down on mobile.
- Open up the Roblox app on your phone
- Tap the three lines on the home screen to bring up the menu, then go to the Settings menu
- Open the Privacy tab in your settings
- Change all of the drop-down menus to “no one”
