Can you Change Time of Day & Night in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet?

How to beat Grusha, and claim the Ice Badge

The fully open world of the Nintendo Switch smash-hit Pokemon Scarlet and Violet has a lot of new systems at play. The revamped endgame, fully new progression and mostly new Pokedex offer plenty of challenges to new and old Trainers alike. Things really heat up as you get through the game as well, as you have to make the game’s mechanics work for you. One of these is the new day/night cycle and dynamic weather system.

The game has three distinct phases in a 30-minute cycle. These are Day, Dusk, and Night, each with a distinct characteristic. You will be able to see which phase you are in based on two things: one is the obvious color of the sky, the other is the marker on top of the map. A risen sun will denote Day. A setting sun is Dusk, and a moon is Night.

Can you Change Scarlet and Violet Day/Night Cycle?

So when you need to do certain things like force spawns or hatch eggs, you might really want to change the time of day in Scarlet and Violet. So can you?

The simple answer is this, the Scarlet and Violet day/night cycle can’t be changed manually. Luckily, these cycles happen every 30 minutes so it’s a pretty short wait between cycles. I like to burn through some of my hatched Pokemon via Suprise Trades while I wait most of the time. You could also go do some Tera Raids while you wait. Whatever you do with your time, it won’t be too long of a wait. You won’t be able to wait out the time delay with a rest in a bed or other methods, as other RPG games often do.

Along with time, you cannot change the weather in Scarlet and Violet either. You’re looked into whatever spawns you get, which can be pretty annoying.

If you’re struggling with previous areas of the game, we’ve got guides on a lot of things in Scarlet and Violet. Beating the Path of Legends via the Stony Cliff Titan, Open Sky Titan, Lurking Steel Titan, Quaking Earth Titan,  and finishing with the False Dragon Titan. Then there are all the Gym challenges to get here. Basic fights like Iono are pretty easy. But it’s gets more challenging.  The Water Gym Leader Kofu is a real tough battle. Larry the Normal Gym Leader, Ryme the Ghost Leader, getting deeper in your face at the Psychic Gym. Then finishing off with the Ice Gym. And amid all of that is the Team Star storyline. Beating Team Star bosses GiacomoMela, Atticus, Ortega and Eri are all pretty strong. The secondary guides for Scarlet and Violet can be helpful too. You might want to learn about Breeding Pokemon, the Triple Masuda method, as well as how feathers work. Once you’ve figured all that out, you might be nearing the endgame with taking on Director Clavell or the final Nemona rival fight.
