World War Z: Aftermath is out today and gets a launch trailer

World War Z: Aftermath Launch Trailer

Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive have marked today’s launch of World War Z: Aftermath with a new trailer. The new trailer has plenty of undead action to behold.

Taking cues from the last game, there’s a pretty basic setup. Sophia, Giovani, Daniela and Marco will be the four new characters this time. As with the last game, there’s a role for each of them to fill. There are two new story episodes set in the Vatican City and a new Russian region in Kamchatka. Players once again get to fight back ever-hungry hordes.

There are a bunch of gameplay refinements added as well. Players will be able to use first-person mode as a nice change. Although facing down the zombie hordes might be a bit more terrifying.  Four-player co-op and cross-play is supported, allowing players to get into the full experience across any platform. The ideal visuals will be 60 FPS with a really nice and gory setting.

With this new expansion, players have tons of options on where to buy the game. The game launches today on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC. And that’s not all, as a Switch port of the original World War Z is also on the way from November 2. The announcement of that Switch port was pretty cool to hear, especially as it revealed the success of the original game.

World War Z has had a huge impact on our studio in all respects. It feels fantastic to hit goals that perhaps a few years ago seemed unimaginable,” said CEO Matt Karch. “We have over 10 million registered players that have played the game and our concurrent player counts are regularly in the tens of thousands. During our free week on the Epic Games Store 9.9 million people claimed the game and we peaked at 250k simultaneous users across platforms. The Epic team told me WWZ was the most successful free game on EGS yet – we even topped Left 4 Dead 2 in terms of downloads and number of players.”
