Bloober Team releases The Medium trailer, showing multiple realities

The newest footage for the new horror, The Medium, has been released by the developer Bloober Team. The game is once again delving into the psychological horror genre that this team has really dominated lately. The core of the story once again focuses on another lone adventurer who is seemingly trapped in some nightmare, possibly within their own mind.

The Medium’s story centers on a narrative split across two realities. One that’s more familiar to us playing, and one haunted by dark secrets and unspeakable horrors. The player will have to use their various wits and abilities to navigate both realities, all while being hunted by a powerful and mysterious beast known only as The Maw.

Even the main antagonist itself ties into the narrative. It appears that The Maw is born from some unspeakable trauma or other deep-seated issues. It’s almost like we’re going to be playing a much more cerebral version of the film The Babadook. Although with Bloober Team at the helm, expect a lot of sanity-breaking twists and turns along the way.

The Medium will be using Unreal Engine 4, and here are its official PC system requirements. Bloober Team has also confirmed that the game will feature real-time Ray Tracing effects and other visual improvements. These improvements will be in full-force on the PC, but are toned down for the console port. Though both versions will be running at resolutions up to 4K, the Xbox version will only run at 30 FPS.

The game is due for release for the PC and Xbox Series X in Holiday 2020. The Medium is a very mind-bending title, much like the other output from this studio, so you better come prepared.
