Tanks and helicopters in Far Cry 6 are some of the most difficult enemies to take down. When starting out in Far Cry 6 you may notice that you have very few ways to actually destroy tanks and helicopters. As you progress through the game new weaponry will open up that enables you to take them down easier. In this guide, we’re going to look at a few of the best ways to defeat tanks and helicopters in Far Cry 6.
How to take down tanks and helicopters
Tanks and helicopters require more than just your average bullets to destroy. Your first weapon to take them down with will likely be the first Supremo backpack, the Exterminador. The Exterminador fires a series of rockets into the air that target enemies automatically. However, you only have one shot with that and it takes some time for your Supremo points to regenerate. If you don’t have your Supremo you’re going to want to look for a turret. Turrets should be available in most places where you’re likely to encounter a tank or helicopter. If one isn’t available you could also call in an armed vehicle. Armed vehicles come with turrets built-in and can be called in via the weapons screen. Helicopters can be taken down with any type of turret but grenade launchers are better for tanks.
Once you’re a bit further into the game you should be unlocking better weapons that can deal with tanks and helicopters. Resolver weapons, the high-powered weapons created by the Guerrillas, are some of the best weapons to take down tanks and helicopters. Pyrotechno is one of the best Resolver weapons for anti-tank and anti-helicopter warfare. Pyrotechno shoots missiles that will make quick work of any tank or helicopter in your way. Pyrotechno becomes available when you reach rank 4 and will require 100 Depleted Uranium to purchase from Juan Cortez or one of his arms dealers.
Next, we have explosive ammo. Explosive ammo can be crafted at a workbench and it is specifically designed for taking on armored vehicles. Unlocking explosive ammo and using it in one of your three primary weapons will mean you’re always ready anytime a tank or helicopter rears its ugly head. For best results, choose a high-powered weapon such as a rifle to use with the explosive ammo. You’ll probably want to make sure you put a decent scope on it too so you can take them down from cover.
Lastly, if you fancy taking the vehicle for yourself you could always use an EMP grenade to take it out. An EMP grenade won’t destroy the vehicle you’re fighting but it should disable it for long enough that you can take it over. Alternatively, you could also use the Volta supremo. The Volta supremo emits an EMP pulse which takes out security systems, knocks enemies down, and takes down vehicles for hijacking. Once you have your own tank or helicopter gunship you’re basically a god in Far Cry 6.
Medicine is another good thing to hunt down if you’re upgrading your base.. You will need it to expand your base. It’s also much easier to find out in the world. You might also want to go hunting Durable Plastic from enemy vehicles. To get plenty of camp resources and other upgrades, you might want to gather up some Yaran Pesos. If you’re after a better set of gear, go find and upgrade the Supremo.
