Guilty Gear: Strive showcases new game modes in trailer

New Guilty Gear Due in 2020

Developer Arc System Works has been quietly toiling away on their new game, Guilty Gear: Strive. The new fast-paced fighter is coming soon, and the media blitz has begun. This is the seventh mainline installment of the Guilty Gear series, and the 25th overall entry into the franchise. This legendary series has gone through a lot of twists and turns over the years.

The recent additions have expanded the roster and added new game modes to pull in long-time fans, but that’s not enough anymore. Fighting games are a very crowded genre these days, and games have to offer something new pretty consistently. There’s a bevy of new modes this time, both focusing on teaching the gameplay, and improving the story.

The new story modes added this time around are a complete Story Mode campaign and a GG World mode. The first of the two will allow you to dive into the lore of this game and get more story of some of your favorite characters. The GG World Mode is a deeper dive still, offering a more complete picture across the story from previous games as well.

For those players more interested in the competitive scene, there’s plenty on offer as well. There’s basic options like the traditional Arcade Mode, and a tutorial mode to help you learn combos and mechanics. Once you progress past the basics, you can dive deeper into two new additions. Survival Mode is an online-focused mode for players who wish to test their skills against a gauntlet of fighters, with rankings for the best fighters included. A more complex training environment—called Mission Mode—will allow players to get their hands dirty testing out mode advanced combos.

Finally, there’s even a Gallery to check out concept art and more from the development of the game.

Guilty Gear: Strive is currently scheduled for release on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC on April 9, 2021. You can see that new trailer down below.
