When does Isle of Armor release for Pokémon Sword and Shield?

Isle of Armor DLC

The first announcement of DLC for Pokémon Sword and Shield was earlier this year, and it’s about time to see when the new content is actually landing. DLC for Pokémon Sword and Shield will be split into two launches, with each holding a particular DLC pack and bringing new content. Isle of Armor is up first, bringing dozens of new and old Pokémon to the Galar region. It’s coming this Summer, and Nintendo has revealed when.

Isle of Armor will drop or all players on June 17 for the Switch. It can be pre-ordered right now via the eShop. If you want, you can also buy the DLC Season Pass that includes both DLC packs. Not that the pass is locked to each version, so those with Shield will need to buy the DLC pack for Shield specifically. If you have Pokémon Sword, you need to buy the Pokémon Sword Expansion Pass.

The expansion pass costs $30, and includes both Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra.

The big news with Isle of Armor is that it puts first-generation Pokémon from the Kanto region, complete with new Galarian forms for many. The three legendary birds Zapdos, Articuno, and Moltres, will also be put into the game. So you gen 1 fans better get ready.

The DLC also includes new items, like new battle items, that will make the game more competitive. The new Dynamax Soup will allow a Pokémon to transition into Gigantamax if they can already Dynamax. This means that all of these monsters will also get more character models.
