Good news if you’re a Persona fan, or even a fan of Musou games, another major title is getting a localized port to the west. The game has been out for a while as a Japanese release, and it’s finally coming to the West. The publisher will release Persona 5 Strikers on the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on February 23, 2021.
As a gameplay hybrid between Koei Tecmo’s Dynasty Warriors and Atlus’s Persona 5, the intent is pretty clear. Persona 5 Strikers will let players jump into the shoes of various iconic characters from the RPG series and take their abilities into a new battlefield. Rather than crawling through mind palaces and dungeons, you’re going to be battling on much different territory.
Joker and the Phantom Thieves of Hearts will have to take the fight to new locales and the real world as they tackle a new threat. The gameplay is pretty simple. and while it lacks the sheer volume of missions compared to something like Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, it still offers plenty to do. So if you’re a fan of the concept that Koei Tecmo has been using to pump out spin-offs, this might be for you.
The biggest changes compared to other genre titles is that the player has something called Master Arts in their arsenal. These are unique to Persona 5 Strikers and offer some ultra-powerful attacks that can alter the course of a battle. All the usual commands for your allies are there as well, and you can even combine them to create combo attacks to take down bosses. It’s pretty cool.
