Monster Hunter World PS4 bundles, and a new PS4 revision, announced

Monster Hunter World PS4 Bundle

Capcom and Sony have announced a new round of price cuts and bundles for Monster Hunter World in Japan. Japanese gamers who don’t already own the massively successful game are sure to be more likely to pull the trigger on the purchase now.

The package is a new PS4 bundle releasing in Japan on July 26th for 32,980 yen ($293) plus taxes. It will include a PS4 slim, a copy of Monster Hunter World, the new Strategy Handbook, and one month of PlayStation Plus.

On August 2nd the game is also getting a “Best Price” discounted version for 4,990 yen plus taxes in physical form. The digital version will drop to 4,620 yen plus taxes, and the digital deluxe version will cost 5,546 yen plus taxes.

A bundle with the aforementioned Strategy Handbook and seven days of PlayStation Plus will cost 5,500 yen plus taxes.

Sony also revealed that a new revision of the PS4 console is going to be hitting worldwide markets soon. The new version will be available in Japan first. The new bundles will land on July 26.

Versions of the “slim” base PS4, which previously carried the model number CUH-2100, have now been modified to CUH-2200.  At the moment there is a new 1 TB Jet Black version (CUH-2200BB01), a new 500 GB Jet Black version (CUH-2200AB01), and a new 1 TB Glacier White version (CUH-2200BB02). The 500 GB Glacier White version still has the model number CUH-2100AB02. The previous CUH-2100 revision was introduced in 2017.

What this new CUH-2200 revision means is that minor updates or changes were made to the console. This probably translates to Sony making minor tweaks to component layout or composition in order to save money on console manufacturing long-term. Since prices remain the same in Japan, we can assume they won’t fluctuate much in other markets.

Monster Hunter World is currently available on PS4 and Xbox One. A PC version will come out to Steam on August 9th. Capcom and Square Enix also recently held a livestream that revealed more details about the upcoming Final Fantasy XIV crossover event.
