Elden Ring

Combat in Elden Ring can be brutal. There are so many enemies stuffed into the Lands Between, that’s it hard to know how to handle them all. Elden Ring may be a difficult game, and not being prepared with good tactics and solid gear can see you taking a lot of unnecessary deaths. That’s why we’re trying to help you get better with some basics guides. This guide will lay out how you can take down most foes in the game. The best way to get in free attacks is to stagger enemies in Elden Ring. Keep reading to get some useful tips for this.

How to Stagger Enemies in Elden Ring

There are a few tricks you can use to stagger enemies in Elden Ring. Elden Ring has a great many items that can be found throughout its massive world. As you get your hands on more items and improve your builds, there’s a lot more potential to uncover. You can uncover powerful weapons and Talismans to take on tougher fights. These items can be fundamental in building a unique character. And sometimes, they can be vital to keeping you in the fight. Having good items can help a lot. The core stat that dictates how easy it is to stagger enemies in Elden Ring is Poise. The more poise a character has, the more damage they can absorb. Think of high Poise characters as big and tanky.

Getting your equip load lower can help you move faster. If you’re building a character with good Dex scaling, that can be a very viable option. Having fast attacks can help you move around and bypass the defenses of slower enemies. But not all enemies and builds will find this viable. If you’re going for a Strength-focused build, your options are better used on Poise. Poise works in Elden Ring the same way it did in other Soulsborne games.

What attacks stagger?

Heavy Attacks are designed to break an enemy’s poise. You will want to use the charge attack when you can, like when you’re behind a slow-moving foe. Unleashing a powerful strike like this can chip away a sizeable chunk from a health bar. Jump attacks are also great for this. They’re a bit easier to use, and some hardcore gamers consider them kind of cheesing some fights. But really, use whatever option works best for you.

Another viable option is to simply overpower their poise with a huge weapon. Some builds are designed as tank-breakers, and they use the biggest Greatswords to stagger enemies. But it’s not just the slow and lumbering hits that stagger. A lightning-fast series of attacks with light weapons, like dual daggers, can be just as lethal. Each hit in a combo will chip away at the poise of the target, so get in close and stab them to ribbons to send an enemy reeling.

If you’re playing and enjoying the game, good for you! You might have questions though, so we have some guides to help you out. When making a character, picking the right class is important. Figure out how to level up your character once you’re in the game. From there, you might want to learn how to upgrade gear, or maybe how to find powerful weapons, like the Meteorite Staff. Or perhaps you’re a melee player and want that shiny new Rivers of Blood katana to hack away with? There are also tons of crafting jobs to be done, like making multiple types of arrows. And if you’re pursuing ranged upgrades, the Arrow’s Reach Talisman might be a great get.
