How to Get A Cicada Shell In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Cicada Shell In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Bugs in Animal Crossing: New Horizons are sometimes kind of annoying. They can also be incredibly cool and beautiful if used correctly. Sure, having a fully upgraded museum is nice, but there are other things to do as well. Players may want to make custom houses with an insectoid theme. Some of your villagers might always want a friendly bug to chill with.

When does Cicada Shell In Animal Crossing: New Horizons appear?

Like many other items, the Cicada is seasonal in the game. Players have to wait until the window opens in their region to find this bug. Cicada Shells appear in the Northern Hemisphere in the months of July and August and in the Southern Hemisphere in January and February. You will need to wait until these times to get the bugs to spawn.

So if you want to trick the system, you can change the time using the old offline date trick, but sometimes this doesn’t work. Event items and other occurrences are often time-gated by the game, and not just the date. If you encounter the problem where the Cicada still isn’t spawning after changing the date, this may be the case.

They do seem to spawn more commonly at the beginning of night, around sunset, so check then if you’re having trouble.

How to catch Cicada Shell In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

These little creatures can be kind of hard to find. Some bugs spawn in certain places, and the same is true here. The Cicada work like many other bugs. They spawn in trees, so they should be plain to see. You don’t even need to chop trees and leave behind stumps for them to show up. They also aren’t very skittish, so feel free to run up and grab them when you see them.

Once you found one, just throw your net at it like any other bug, and you’ve got a new friend.
