What is Anxious in Project Zomboid

Project Zomboid

Moodles and skills are a huge part of the game in Project Zomboid. There are many kinds of moodles, both positive and negative. As you play the game, you will encounter many of them. Each one will affect the mental and physical state of your character. Managing all of this can be pretty heavy, and takes some learning. These guides will help you understand some of the harder to figure out elements. Then there are traits.

Players pick various traits when designing their characters. This has two major impacts: one is that you determine skill-based bonuses; the other helps you immerse into your character for the sake of roleplaying. Both can be a ton of fun to fool around with. But much like real life, not everything is all sunshine and rainbows. Various negative traits and moodles also exist in the game, One of them is the modifier of Anxious.

What is Anxious in Project Zomboid?

The many moodles in this game each has their own effect. This particular mood is caused primarily by a moderate stress level on your character. There are a few things that can cause this, but it’s mostly environmental. Players being in too stressful an environment is a problem. Anxious in Project Zomboid can progress to  Agitated, then to Stressed, and finally Nervous Wreck. The worse this gets, the more likely you are to panic and mess basic tasks up.

Here are some things that can increase stress:

  • Being around too many zombies, blood or corpses
  • Going too long without food which increases happiness, i.e. junk food
  • Having some kind of injury or pain from a wound
  • Being infected by a zombie bite or scratch

Watching TV and Listening to Radio is a good way to start. Not only are you getting more skill XP, but the stress reduction is helpful. Reading Books and Magazines act in the same way. Both tasks give you skill XP, and are really good for developing your skillset.

You can also take better care of yourself physically. Check the food you eat in your inventory, certain kinds of food can help, like ice cream. Just be careful not to eat too much of this stuff. Exercise can help with this as well.

Certain traits like the Hemophobic trait can increase the negative effect of blood and corpses. Be sure to clean up blood and corpses around your base when you have the opportunity. Burning corpses is also a great thing to do when dealing with the undead.

There are plenty of other things to learn about the game as well. Before you go out on that supply run, make sure you’re well prepared for what’s to come. Basic tasks like boiling water are key to survival. You must know how to build defenses too. Cleaning up after yourself after all the zombie slaying is a good idea. You don’t want a bunch of blood hanging around.  It’s a good idea to learn how to deal with cuts and burns as well, which can keep you alive.
