The sheer volume of mechanics, and their variety, within Animal Crossing: New Horizons is pretty staggering for new players. And it seems that even the most simple gameplay mechanics that have become a bit intuitive for modern gamers might need a bit of an explainer.
One would think that saving your progress in video games is a given, and that anyone would know how to do it, but the fact is that there are people who bought a Switch and Animal Crossing: New Horizons who haven’t had that knowledge ingrained into their habits. So for those of you new people out there, here’s how to save your game in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons does have an autosave function, so it will save your progress every so often, but it’s always good practice to keep manual saves as well, especially since the game doesn’t use cloud saves as a backup. So to prevent any issues with save corruption, here’s how to save your game in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Just make sure you don’t turn off the console while the autosave icon is on the screen.
Saving your game manually is very simple. Start by pressing the minus (-) button on the left JoyCon to open the menu. Once the confirmation box pops up, just hit A to confirm and save the game and quit for that session.
