Warframe is a great game, and for being free-to-play there is always something to do. Problem is, there might be too much for some new players to handle. I know I was lost the first time I booted into the world of the Origin systems. The crafting system alone is labyrinthine, and it’s choked with tons of rare drops and Blueprints that all have their own requirements. So we made some guides on how to find the rarest of resources to make your time in the game a bit easier to manage. Kavat Genetic Code is one of these resources.
You will need these drops to craft the Warframe Khora as well as a bunch of weapons and other gear. The only source that reliably drops these items is within the dangers of the Orokin Derelict. The rewards for these missions are great, but so are the perils. All Orokin Derelict missions, except for Defense and Assassination, always contain exactly one vault, with the required key to open it being randomized.
Orokin Derelict missions are fairly late into the game, as you will need to complete the Star Chart to a fairly high degree and be able to reliably craft the single-use Keys you need to actually access a given mission. These missions are also higher level than the Orokin Void missions and introduce new traps and more complex layouts compared to the Void. So if you haven’t mastered the Void to the degree that you can quickly farm it in a few minutes flat, as well as completed the Star Chart, do that first.
You acquire Kavat Genetic Code by scanning Feral Kavats on the Orokin Derelict. So be sure to bring a ton of Scanners or a Helios or other automated scanning tool. You have a twenty-five percent chance of getting Genetic Code if you scan one. The Synthesis scanner you can get from Cephalon Simaris is a good investment too. Be sure to bolt on the Cross-Matrix Widget upgrade to increase the likelihood of getting two Codes from one scan.
The Feral Kavats are nearly invisible when they spawn, but you will see tiny flashes of their outline and they look almost the same as other invisible enemies in the game. And since they’re just big cats, they’re pretty easy to spot once you learn what they look like.
Also, if you’re in a group be sure to mark any Feral Kavats that drop code when you scan them, as this will force the Code to drop for anyone in the map who scans that enemy.
The Kavat Genetic Code spawns can also be affected by Resource Boosters, to aid in your farming speed.
