How to get the Thorn Armor in Destiny 2

Bungie’s 30th Anniversary event is live in Destiny 2. Players have a huge batch of new quests to complete to earn unique rewards. Prepare to feel nostalgic as the game brings back iconic weapons and gear. Strange Coins and Strange Favor Ranks are the two core elements of this new reward structure. Since it’s a Bungie-themed event, of course, Halo is in the mix. The new weapons added in the event all tie into Halo, either visually or through some reference.

Various weapons themed after Halo and other Bungie games are now in Destiny 2. One of the many rewards you can get is the Thorn Armor in Destiny 2.

During the course of the event, you will find various dungeons and tasks to complete. Xur and his buddies are handing out some quests, for some very powerful loot. To get the Thorn Armor in Destiny 2, you will need to complete the new Grasp of Avarice dungeon. This new dungeon is the other centerpiece of the content in the 30th anniversary event.

There are a total of six encounters in the dungeon that are tied to the loot drops at the end. Each of the encounters that have the loot chests for the Thorn Armor are very specific. By completing each of these, you can get your hands on a potential piece of the Thorn Armor in Destiny 2. Here are the three encounters that seem to drop armor pieces from their chests:

  • Phry’zhia the Insatiable
  • Fallen Shield
  • Captain Avarokk The Covetous

Farm the Grasp of Avarice dungeon for these encounters and you can eventually get the loot you’re chasing. There’s one thing to keep in mind. The version of the dungeon is currently bugged. As of writing, the dungeon only grants encounter rewards once per difficulty, per character. This will be fixed on Dec. 14 in a patch.
