With so many crafting recipes in the game, there’s a ton of hidden stuff to find in Amazon’s New World MMO. There are a horde of different crafting disciplines in the game. Along with all of the other crafting items and disciplines in this game, various kinds of construction are possible. And given that this is a game about colonialism, destruction via firearms is a big gameplay system. For crafting ammo and certain explosive weapons, you need Saltpeter in New World.
But when you get into more powerful items, you will find things like rare kinds of motes and wood become much more common of a listed ingredient. There are many kinds of motes in the game, and each recipe may use different kinds. This guide will cover the best places to find Saltpeter in New World. There are many other kinds of wood, but some are much rarer. Some are much easier to find and don’t require much more than knowing where to look.
Where to find Saltpeter in New World

Anyway, back to the topic at hand. You can find Saltpeter pretty frequently throughout New World. The best locations include Windsward, Monarch’s Bluffs, Cutlass Keys, Weaver’s Fen, Restless Shore, and Everfall. Like many ores like Iron, Gold and Sringstone, you will need to look in caves in these regions.
Brightwood is actually a great place to look. You can find a bunch of Saltpeter nodes in the caves in the west of the zone. Head west out of the main town in the region and then south when your reach the fork. There’s a small path further on in the mountains to the south that leads to these caves. You will know you have spotted it when you see small mounds of dirt in the rock formations with small grey flecks on them.
The best use for Saltpeter is in making ammo for muskets and other explosive weapons. In the real world, it makes a great improvised smoke grenade.
Now that you’ve found some saltpeter, the next step is to use it to create gunpowder. Go to the town where you received the quest to kill the Corrupted Chamberlain. Look for a Workshop there. You need to use the Workshop in order to craft gunpowder. You will find Gunpowder under Engineering Components. To create it, you will need: x5 Charcoal, x2 Flint, and x1 Saltpeter. After that, you will be able to craft bullets with the following materials: x4 Iron Ingot, x1 Linen, and x1 Gunpowder.
