How to get Parasite in Destiny 2: The Witch Queen

How to get Parasite in Destiny 2

The new crafting system in Destiny 2 is pretty complex. The Witch Queen expansion may have deeply changed the hunt for god rolls, but that doesn’t mean this is going to be easy. The idea of taking weapons and bolting them together is pretty fun, once you understand how it works. There’s already a ton of depth to the crafting, but there’s so much more to the expansion beyond that. But that hasn’t stopped people from finding hidden weapons that have been added in the expansion as well.

What is Parasite in Destiny 2?

This bizarre new weapon fires worms, yes really. Given the strange hives that have popped up all over during the new campaign, of course there would be weapons styled after the same theme. The new Parasite weapon has a unique effect that makes it pretty useful in PvE. The Hive Worms it fires explode on impact, helping deal extra damage to enemies and shields.

The questline to unlock this worm cannon is pretty complex. All of the steps described below are part of the Of Queens & Worm quest, and you’re in for a lot of work to get this powerful new weapon. First, you need to get through the base game and the new campaign. The Witch Queen campaign must be completed first before you can do the other steps.

Ikora Rey will then offer you the quest you need. Head to the Enclave on Mars after speaking with her to hunt down the Hive Worm. This will prompt you to complete the Birthplace of the Vile Strike. This opens up the next phase, where you must hunt down the ripples in time. At the end of the strike, loot the chest and then look at the ripples in the ground next to it (Deepsight). Interact when prompted. Follow the prompts to take the Hive Worm to where it needs to go.

You will then be prompted to visit Fynch in the Throne World, and they will ask you to locate a Cryptoglyph Rune in the Temple of the Cunning. Go around the map and take out 100 Scorn to progress the quest.

Next, comes the Sepulcher Lost Sector. Just like the previous Strike, you need to loot the chest at the end and find the Deepsight marker. Place the Hive Worm again, just like before. To start your expedition to the Sepulcher Lost Sector, you will want to land at the Quagmire area in Savathuns Throne World. Take the right-hand path until you reach Savathun’s castle. From there, head towards the Florescent Canal to begin. As you enter the Sepulcher Lost Sector, you should expect to encounter many Savathuns Lucent Brood, including those annoying Lucent Moths.

For the next phase, you need to complete three Patrols in the Florescent Canal. Doing this after you’ve wrapped the Lost Sector is the best time. You then need to head to the Queen’s Bailey area and find the entrance to the Metamorphosis Lost Sector in the Miasma. From there, you must once again locate the Deepsight ripple. Place the Worm again to unlock the next step.

Players must next find a Cryptoglyph Rune in the Alluring Curtain. There’s a Deepsight Cache that must be located as well. There’s a jumping puzzle here you need to complete to finish it, so be ready.

Next, you must find and complete the Extraction Lost Sector in the Quagmire. Find the Deepsight Cache once again. After all of that, you’re almost done. Visit Fynch in the Throne World and acquire the Hive Casing, using that to unlock the final mission, called Parasitic Pilgrimage from Fynch in the Throne World. Completing that will finally unlock the new weapon.

So to recap, here are the steps in order:

  • Witch Queen Campaign
  • Birthplace of the Vile Strike
  • Cryptoglyph Rune in the Temple of the Cunning
  • Take out 100 Scorn
  • Sepulcher Lost Sector
  • Three Patrols in the Florescent Canal

  • Cryptoglyph Rune in the Alluring Curtain
  • Extraction Lost Sector
  • Parasitic Pilgrimage
