You will eventually unlock the Partners as you get through the early game. You first need to get to Level 20 with your main character, this will unlock the feature that you’re going to use for the partner. So why would you do this? Because an Auxiliary Partner in Phantasy Star Online 2 is actually super useful. These AI-controlled partners will help you out when it comes to various missions and tasks, even helping you take on the tougher quests. So if you played Phantasy Star Universe, you may remember these as Partner Machines, but they’re basically the same thing in PSO2.
Once you hit level 20 it’s time to get started. There’s a quest you need to unlock within the ARKS to get started. This is basically a training mission and will unlock what wider features in the mechanic. But first, you need to deal with the tutorial areas with Afin, complete all the quests you find there, that will allow you to do the next step.
Once you’ve completed the Afin content, there should be an order unlocked that sends you to Cofy. To find that, you first need to find Cofy and engage in the Auxillary Course. Once all of that is done, you will finally have access to Astarte which will unlock the Auxillary Console. You get that from Cofy, from there head to the shopping plaza.
This will then be able to be used to unlock more orders, but you won’t be able to do all of these missions right away. First things first, you need to get your Auxiliary set up. You can then choose “Manage Auxiliaries” to create and edit your new partners. You will need to pay some cash to unlock more slots beyond the first one.
This is where you’re going to begin the process of leveling your Auxiliary Partner in Phantasy Star Online 2. There will be a bit of dialogue going on that will eventually unlock the needed item for your quarters. Go place the Console furniture in your quarters to begin.
Now, it is time to head to the shopping plaza and head to the Salon (the bright pink store) on the second floor. Go into the menu and choose “Manage Auxiliaries”. A character creation suite will open up and allow you to create and alter your new partner. You will pick the main class that will inform how that character will fight and play.
After you have unlocked their main class, you can further customize them, picking things like their sub-class and gear. You will also be able to change this as you go too. The Auxiliary Partner in Phantasy Star Online 2 can be sent out on various tasks. Auxiliaries will come with private mini-orders that they can complete to level up, and they can also complete client orders for you. There are some things they won’t be able to do though, like certain client orders. Their success in these missions will be somewhat dependent on their gear and level.
Now that this is all done, you now have your own personal friend in Phantasy Star Online 2.
