How to get all of the seasonal mushroom DIY recipes in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Animal Crossing: New Horizons has added a bunch of seasonal events and other content as part of ongoing updates to the game, and Nintendo has included a bunch of different content. The most recent update has added a bunch of recipes centered around mushrooms. There are five new mushrooms spawning in the game that can be gathered and used for crafting. And as with all of the spawns in the game, there are spawn restrictions and a time limit. So if you’re looking to get your hands on the limited-time mushroom DIY recipes in ACNH, now is the time.

The five types of mushrooms can all be found around hardwood trees on your island, which means those without fruit growing. And depending on your hemisphere, the mushrooms will be restricted to certain months. Northern players will find the mushrooms in May. Those in the southern areas can grab them in November. They will also spawn alongside leaves, cones and other seasonal items. Maple Leaves are also available during these tiems for example.

They will spawn on the following dates, depending on hemisphere:

  • November 1st to 30th in the Northern Hemisphere
  • May 1st to 31st in the Southern Hemisphere

There are five types in all. Here are the five types of Mushrooms in ACNH:

  • Flat Mushroom (Sell Price: 200 Bells)
  • Round Mushroom (Sell Price: 200 Bells)
  • Skinny Mushroom (Sell Price: 300 Bells)
  • Elegant Mushroom (Sell Price: 10,000 Bells)
  • Rare Mushroom (Sell Price: 16,000 Bells)

Where To Find Thin, Round, Flat and Elegant Mushrooms

You can find Thin, Round, Flat, and Elegant Mushrooms randomly spawned on the ground. Just look for the small brown and tan mushrooms. They seem to spawn randomly, but can most often be found at the base of trees. They will spawn nearby any type of tree, as long as it’s fully grown. If you have a heavily forested, or orchard, area on your island you should check there daily. Each day the spawns will shuffle at 5 AM local time, so keep checking to get plenty of these.

The Elegant Mushroom is the most valuable of the basic types, and is found in the same places as the other kinds. The exception to this rule is the incredibly valuable Rare Mushroom.

Where To Find Rare Mushrooms

Rare Mushrooms are only really useful for one of the mushroom DIY recipes, so you really want them for their very high sell price. It’s not a huge amount of Bells, but some players love grabbing them, You can find them buried in the ground around trees marked by the same holes the fossils spawn in. Look in both the normal and glowing varieties to see what you find.

The islands you’re living on are scattered with various different resources and crafting materials. As you gain various other recipes by playing around, you will uncover various new and rare items to make. And with all of the creative elements in Animal Crossing: New Horizons that makes for plenty to do. But there’s always something more to do. And now Nintendo has added some new crafting materials and DIY recipes based on rare mushrooms.

Where to get Recipes

You can often get recipes, both seasonal and otherwise, by checking in with your neighbors each day. There’s a chance that some of your neighbors will be inside their houses crafting. If you see a neighbor pounding away at their crafting table, speak to them and they will award you a random recipe. It won’t always be a special one, but it’s a nice way to fill out your Recipes.

The mushroom DIY recipes are also hidden in the balloons that float around the island randomly. You will need to have your crafted slingshot to shoot them down. It will take some time to get them all, but if you really want to unlock all of the crafting recipes in the game, that’s a good option for these forested and mushroom-inspired items.
